LOGO DESIGN FAQ
- What is a logo?
A logo is a symbol, graphic mark, emblem, stylized name, or other design adopted by a business or organization to identify its products, uniform, vehicles, website, social media, etc.
Think of McDonald's, Apple, or Nike... the first thing that often comes to mind is their logo, i.e., McDonald's golden arches, Apple's iconic minimalistic apple with a bite in it, and Nike's famous swoosh.
- Why do I need a logo?
A logo helps to identify your company and build brand recognition. What if the three companies mentioned above did not have a logo or a brand to recognize? Every marketing campaign, sale, and storefront they invested in would suffer significant loss because it wouldn't have credibility and trust.
- What kinds of logos do you design?
We don't believe in one size fits all. That's why we design a variety of different logo styles. Whatever suits the needs of your business best is what we aim to achieve. A logo should be simple, clean and work in black and white, as well as color.
- Is a graphic symbol required in the logo?
Before diving into the answer, let's discuss the two parts to a logo: A "logomark" and a "logotype." The logomark is the graphic symbol that the company associates with its brand, usually represented by icons or images. On the other hand, the logotype is a word or monogram used in the logo to identify the company name.
Although a logotype is essential to every logo, a logomark is not always necessary. Depending on what type of business you have, you may only need a logotype so that people can identify your business by name.
But don't make the mistake of thinking logotypes are "easier" to design than a logomark. Some logotypes, such as Coca-Cola, Visa, and Google, are examples of logotypes that are much more than a typed-out font. They were crafted with much care to be recognizable and brand-worthy.
- How much does a logo design cost?
The cost of a logo varies, as one business may require something completely different from another. The price range can be anywhere from $200-$500+, which considers the logotype, logomark, brand purpose, and marketing use, all of which we discuss with you before starting on the design. It also depends on how many variations are needed, too.
- Are there any hidden fees?
There are no tacked-on fees at the end of your invoice. Additional costs, although rare, are discussed well in advance so that pricing stays completely transparent.
- How long does a logo design take?
Design can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks, depending on our current workload, which we will discuss with you beforehand. We will email you a design proof within 2-4 days of our discussion.
- Will I be updated on the logo design process?
We will keep you updated every step of the way and are quick to respond to any ideas or suggestions you may have, ensuring that you get a design that you will love.
- How many logos do I get?
Although you are paying for one single logo, you may request a design variation similar to the final logo for an additional cost. Any concepts or revisions that we send to you during the design process are yours to keep!
- How many logo revisions do you include in the cost?
We want to make sure you are happy with your logo, so we'll work with you to get the look you're looking for!
- Are revisions the same as concepts?
A concept differs from a revision in that it is an entirely different design from the one originally sent to you. A slight change in font, color, or overall design is a revision. A completely new design is considered a separate concept.
- What if I come up with my own logo design and just need help designing it?
We would love to help you realize your logo design idea! We've taken many concepts and sketches from clients over the years and turned them into logos that they loved.
- Can I get an old logo modified or re-designed?
Of course! A logo re-design is also more affordable than a completely new design.
- What if I want to make a change to a logo design you sent me after I've paid?
We are happy to make any revisions for you that are within reason. Since this may vary on a case-by-case basis, we will review your request and give you a quote based on the amount of work required.
- What will it cost to have different logo sizes and backgrounds sent to me?
We include all the needed sizes and backgrounds required for all of your assets. This includes everything from high-resolution files to small avatars for social media.
- In what file formats can you send the logo?
Any format you need! By default, we send JPG, PNG, PDF, and the original vector file, which may be in EPS or AI. We can also send you an SVG file for your website or a PSD / TIFF if necessary.
- What do I get after payment?
You will get the completed logo files and all rights to the logo. You will also receive support for any future projects you may have that you need to use your nifty new logo on!
